The opening of the museum took place in 1927, and in 1967 while creating a national museum of natural science, it entered its structure.
The basic foundation of the museum are a unique collection of rocks and minerals collected by the outstanding geologists of time Bezborod’ko, Tutkovskiy and Luchitskiy.
The total number of museum exhibits is more than 50,000 specimens of fossil fauna and flora as well as minerals and rocks.
These materials are evidence confirming the structure and composition of the crust, the origin of our planet and its development, the complex processes and phenomena that occur in its interior and on the surface.
Exhibits are housed in seven rooms – “General geological processes “,” Origin and Development of Solar System “,” Mineral Resources of Ukraine”, “History of geological development of the territory of Ukraine “,” Monographic paleontological collections”, ” Marine Geological Research “,” Petrography and “Mineralogy”.
Opening hours: 10-00 – 17-00 (ticket office is opened until 16-00). Closed – Monday and Tuesday.
