«The Street of games – games in the street» – Andrew’s descent presents »
In early October, the most Ukrainian street of Kiev will host the German-Ukrainian festival. Andrew’s descent will host a festival “The Street of games – games in the streets.” «CultKiev» found out the details of the event.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The German-Ukrainian action “The Street of games – games in the street” will be held in Kiev under the auspices of the General Directorate of Culture and Arts KSCA for three days – from 01 to 03 October 2010. It was organized by the Contemporary Art Centre “Soviart “and the Goethe Institute in Ukraine. As the festival organizers told, the event was dedicated to the influence of modern trends and contemporary culture on the appearance of ancient buildings and architecture of cities in Eastern and Central Europe. Why was Andrew’s Descent chosen the venue for the festival? Nowadays, Andrew’s descent is one of the most ancient streets of Europe, every home or object which is the cultural heritage of Ukrainians and Europeans in general.
THE FESTIVAL’S PROGRAM
The festival will feature three directions in art that reveal the theme of the festival.
Sergei Zhadan submits his handwritten creations, Gerhard Shterbler – musical concert intervention, and Andreas Gertsau exposes his author photos. The Goethe Institute will present a gallery of photographs from renowned photographer Stephen Koppelkamma. The exhibition will run for the entire St. Andrew’s descent, and the picture will be posted on the walls of houses. Gallery Ortszeit Local Time will trace the changing urban panoramas that have occurred over the past 11 years, on the example of cities in Eastern Europe. For convenience in comparison of photos are posted in pairs: one in 1990, the second – 2000’s.

1 – From the metro Golden Gate go through the Sofia Square up to Michael’s Cathedral, where turn to Andrew’s Descent
2 – From the metro Khreshchatyk rise up to the Sofia area, then go to the Ministry of foreign affairs, where the turn in the direction of Andrew’s Descent
3 – from the metro Poshtova Ploscha go up the slope toward the Andreyevsky Sophia Square.
